SPORT HILL FARM LLC
About Us
Welcome to Sport Hill Farm's Website. We are a small family farm located in Easton whose mission is to supply everyone we can with fresh, locally grown , healthy produce. Our produce begins as seeds in our greenhouse and is grown using only organic methods. We are proud members of The Connecticut Farm Bureau , Buy Connecticut Grown and CT Northeast Organic Farming Association. We started clearing and farming our land back in 2001.
THE BEGINNING.........................
Easton is a town rich in agricultural history dating back to the early 1800's. Sport Hill Farm is one of the newer farms established in 2001. At a time when many established farms were selling off their fertile land to developers, my husband and I took a gamble to see if we could make a difference. When we purchased this house back in 1997, it was not a working farm, we turned it into a farm through hard work and perseverence. We were the first farm in Easton, and one of the few in Fairfield County, to offer a 21 week CSA Program as well as participating in a summer farm camp for children. Sport Hill Farm takes pride in being an educational farm. A place where adults as well as children have the opportunity to learn and appreciate the miracle of nature through hands-on programs offered throughout the growing season. We are proud of our accomplisments so far. Connecticut is a state rich in agriculture and we are proud to make our own agricultural history in Easton.
WHAT WE GROW
Connecticut is a great state to experience seasonal eating since we have such diverse weather, it enables us to grow a variety of different produce. In the spring when the days are warm and the nights are cool, healthy greens are abundant such as lettuces, arugula and spinach. Beets, radishes, swiss chard, bok choy, kale.broccoli, and cabbage also like these temperatures. Summer brings about all our favorites such as tomatoes, corn, onions, garlic, eggplant, zucchini, cucumbers, peppers and beans. Fall comes around and it's back to the leafy greens as well as many comfort foods such as potatoes, acorn or butternut squash, kohlrabi, kale and brussel sprouts.
WE ARE A CSA FARM (Community Supported Agriculture)
"No two gardens are the same. No two days are the same in one garden."
