Tuesday October 19, 2010-Come join Amie Guyette Hall holistic health counselor and cooking coach here at the farm to learn how easy it can be to prepare & cook seasonal produce. The event is held promptly at 11:30-1:00P.M.
You'll enjoy a cooking demo and seasonal lunch. Also will receive recipes to take home. These events fill up quickly. You can sign-up for one class or all four. Please RSVP to farmgal596@yahoo.com or amieghall@aol.com. Limit 20 people per class, 24 hour cancelation notice required because of all the prep work. Cost is $40 per person, per session. Thanks.

1st Annual State of CT "Farm to Chef Harvest Celebration"

FRIDAY OCT. 1, 2010 : Sept. 26, 2010- Oct. 2, 2010 the State of CT has put a program together called "CT Farm to Chef Harvest Celebration." This week features participating local chefs & farms together to provide you with some of the most delightfully farm fresh dishes you will ever have. Chef Jeff of SKinny Pines will be at Sport Hill Farmfor you to enjoy a locally prepared luncheon on a beautiful, small family farm. Spread the word, bring a friend & enjoy the fall. Reservations / pre-payment are REQUIRED. The luncheon will be held here on FRIDAY OCTOBER 1, 2010 from 11:30-1:30. The cost is $31.80 per person.Thanks!

"Put 'em Up!" A Canning class with Sherri Brooks Vinton

SATURDAY October 16, 2010 : 1:00-2:00p.m. She's back again, so if you missed her in the spring, make sure to save the date now. Local Easton resident & author Sherri Brooks Vinton will be on the farm to show you how easy it is to can & preserve the fall's harvest. Her new book "Put 'em Up" ( a guide to preserving & canning food) was launched this spring. She will do a demo & answer questions. Her book will also be available for purchase. Think ahead to January & February when one is longing for some decent tasting food. Fall is the perfect time to gather a group of friends and have a canning party. "Junior Farmer"

So you want to be a farmer when you grow-up (well maybe). Throughout the 2010 season Sport Hill Farm will be holding junior farmer events tailored to children ages 10-14. Come and learn side by side with farmgal Patti on what it takes to work, manage and run a small family farm. You need to dress appropriately, work cloths are the best. Mud and dirt is par for the course. Monthly sessions will be held Saturday June 12, 2010. Only five children will be taken per session, so sign-up early. Held from 1:00-3:00 at our farm. Please feel free to share with someone who may be interested. Fee $25 per session. They are going to be held on the dates below:
